Preparing Exam Papers in GURU 2.0

Steps for submitting examination papers: 

All examination papers must be submitted electronically through the Guru 2.0 using the approved exam paper template.  When building your template, please ensure you action/include the following where required.  

  • Extension number/contact number of Internal Examiner (if you have no extension number, please inform examinations@dcu.ie of an alternative contact number). 
  • Name of External Examiner (should auto-populate on the cover sheet but if missing from the cover sheet, please add it manually).  
  • If there are additional requirements that Registry should provide to the students, tick the appropriate box under ‘Please select any additional Requirements’, i.e. Log Tables, graph paper, etc. 
  • If you require exam papers to be handed back please ensure to always select both of the following:
    • Tick ‘Exam Paper to be returned with booklet’ under ‘Please select any additional Requirements’.
    • Tick the Exam/Seat Number’ under ‘Optionally add some template questions’ which will then include the line for students to add their Exam No. and Seat No. 
  • If your paper is one of the following Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) formats:
    • DCU MCQ Answer Sheets: Tick this if you require Registry to provide students with the Red MCQ sheets that feed into the marking reader. 
    • Faculty/School MCQ Sheets: Tick this if you will provide Registry with your own MCQ answer sheet (if you are providing these sheets, please ensure it includes lines for Exam No. / Seat No.  only).  
    • MCQ Only - Do not publish: Only tick this if you have a prior agreement with Registry.  If choosing this option, please select the following.  
      • Tick ‘Exam Paper to be returned with booklet’ under ‘Please select any additional Requirements’.
      • Tick the Exam/Seat Number’ under ‘Optionally add some template questions’ which will then include the line for students to add their Exam No. and Seat No. 
  • Ensure that your footer refers to the correct examination diet. 
  • Prior to uploading your paper you will have the option to provide Registry with any additional comments, i.e. open book exam, print exam paper in colour, etc.
