Research Title: Exploring the Treatment of Eating Disorders (ED) in Ireland: Service Users' Perspectives

This research aims to provide a detailed understanding of the views, experiences and suggestions for change, of eating disorder patients currently availing of professional treatment services for disordered eating in Ireland. Employing a qualitative methodology, approximately 40 individuals (18 years of age and older) currently receiving treatment for eating disorders, will be recruited to participate in a number of focus groups. Through a detailed exploration of service users' experiences and views of health care for ED in the Irish context, the results of this body of research will inform policy and practice, but also set a research agenda and stimulate other research in this area.
