Academic biography

Currently the Programme Manager for DCU Ability projects. Academically from an engineering background, more recently (last decade or so) I have focused on health and  social care issues both in the UK and overseas, establishing social enterprise health and social care organisations and working on various programmes and projects supporting health and social care initiatives with a community focus. Previous roles include providing training for health and  social care staff in the NHS and social enterprises; teaching whilst in senior management in the Fire Service Training College UK; lecturing at Coventry University; and providing training for public and private organisations. Key business roles have included - Market analysis, strategic planning and product development - Managing organisational business development and business enhancement; - Procurement and contract management; - Change management and organisational set up for NHS, social care and social enterprises;  - Management of Programme Management Office (PMO) - programme and project management which included R&D programme management for the businesses (health, social care and public service). I have always tried to ensure that the science is applied and practical to ensure the benefits reach the community. Current focus is around supported employment; community resilience and enhancement; and developing training for young adults with disabilities in a tertiary educational setting.
