Academic biography

Gerard Moore is an Associate Professor at  the School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health.  Gerry lecturers in Psychotherapy, Psychology and Mental Health. Gerry has worked in DCU since 2000 and took a lead role in the development of the Masters and Doctorate in Psychotherapy programmes and is currently the Academic Lead for Psychotherapy in the School.  He is a registered practitioner of psychoanalytic psychotherapy with the Association of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Ireland (APPI). 
His previous work in DCU included, Head of School (2011-2013), programme chair for the Doctorate in Psychotherapy, course co-coordinator for the Graduate Diploma in Nursing programmes for Substance Abuse and Addiction and the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health of Older People and the Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Chair of the Masters in Psychotherapy 2015-2018. Prior to working in DCU he was an Assistant Director of Nursing in the Mental Health Services. Gerry's research working and interests include psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, addiction, mental health and social services.
