Biographical Details

Susan has coordinated Geography Education at DCU Institute of Education since 2000. She is an active member of a number of DCU centres, including the Centre for Human Rights and Citizenship, Disadvantage Centre and Water Institute.

Susan is Vice President of the Geographical Association (GA), currently chairing the Education Group and acting as secretary for the Early Years and Primary Committee, She regularly writes for the GA's journal Primary Geography.

Susan is an External Examiner at the Universities of Roehampton (PGCE, Roehampton) and Chichester (BA Outdoor Learning, Colaiste Dhulaigh). Susan is a member of the Geography Education Research Collective (GERECO), and is on the Editorial Board of the International Research in Geographical and Environmental Education (IRGEE). 

Susan's research interests span teacher education and education at all levels. Current projects include the Science Foundation Ireland Irish Sign Language (ISL) Glossary for Geography & Environmental Science. She is currently working on a book for teachers entitled Learning Secondary Geography.
