Making Feedback Work for You
This week you will find out how you did in your Semester 1 exams and assignments. If your results are not what you expected, you may feel your confidence waver. Not to worry! DCU offers advice and supports to help students build their learning confidence and get back on track.
Quick tips to make the most of your results and feedback:
-
Make sure that you understand your results. This Registry page on interpreting your results can help.
-
Read the feedback comments and make sure that you understand them. "My Feedback" on Loop (under Quick Links) lets you see all your feedback in one place. Contact your lecturers if any part of the feedback is not clear. Attend the Consultation Days on 16th-20th February.
-
Don’t take feedback comments personally. They are just useful information on how to do better in your next assignment or exam. Our Discover Mindset course can help you apply a growth mindset to feedback.
-
Identify areas for improvement and make a plan to address them. You can complete our online Active Learning course, work through the Library's LETS tutorials, attend a workshop, make a Writing Centre appointment, or meet with a Learning Skills Advisor to help you fine-tune your approach.
Health & Wellbeing
Sexual Health
You may be catching feelings this Valentine's Day, but you don’t want to catch an STI!
An STI, or Sexually Transmitted Infection, is an infection passed from person to person through sexual contact, including genital, anal, or oral sex, and sometimes skin-to-skin contact, often caused by bacteria, viruses, or parasites. While many STIs are curable, especially with early treatment (like chlamydia, gonorrhea), some viral STIs like herpes or HIV have no cure but can be managed with medication, and untreated infections can lead to serious long-term health issues like infertility or cancer. Regular testing and safe sex practices, such as condom or femodom use, are important for prevention and management.
Having knowledge about STIs helps you make an informed choice if you do decide to be intimate. Check out the Sexual Wellbeing website for more information and how to obtain FREE STI testing kits.
