Message from Claire
Dear Students,
I hope you are all having a wonderful summer so far and enjoying the spell of amazing weather! I’m sure some of you are anxious this week, with the results coming out and determining whether you have a full free summer ahead or have had a small glitch that you have to get through – I’m keeping the fingers crossed for you all!!
Don’t forget that we have two official Consultation Days – 4th & 5th June – where you can meet your lecturer and discuss your paper or assignment. Whether you have passed or not, it’s always good to get feedback to see how you can improve for the next time, so do get in touch with the relevant lecturer and arrange to meet.
As always, if you have any concerns or queries, please get in touch with us at student.support@dcu.ie. We are here all summer!!
Wishing you the Best of Luck!
With warm regards,
Claire

Advice and Support this Summer
Will you be working on repeat or deferred CA assignments, are you writing a Thesis or Dissertation, or preparing to resit exams in a couple of months? We have lots of advice and supports available to help you get on top of things this summer:
-
Whatever your writing needs, you can now book your Writing Centre appointment for the week beginning 8th June. Undergraduate and postgraduate students welcome! Summer appointments are held online via Zoom and can be booked here. We will also be offering a wide range of skills workshops, which you'll find listed below.
-
Our Learning Skills Advisors are available year-round to meet with you 1:1, in person or via Zoom if you're off campus. They can help you get organised and motivated, make a study plan, and develop effective revision strategies ahead of the resits period. Why not book an appointment for some tried-and-tested learning skills advice?
-
If you are struggling with personal matters impacting your studies, or not sure where to start, you can make an appointment with a Student Advisor for general advice.
-
Counselling is also available throughout the summer. If you have considered reaching out for help with your mental health, this could be a good time to take this step!
Our Top Tip: Check Your DCU Email!
If you haven't passed all your exams or assignments, check your student email at least once a day during the summer. You may receive vital information from your lecturers about repeat CAs and deadlines (email them directly if you don't). You may also be contacted by Registry about registering for the resits.
Health and Wellbeing
Minding your Mental Health this Summer
The lead up to exam results is an exciting time, but it can also bring up feelings of worry and doubt. These feelings are completely normal. It is important to remember that no matter how your results go, they do not define you. You will be okay!
If you are feeling low or stressed at this time, please make use of our mental health resources. On the DCU Healthy Mental Health and Wellbeing page you can find information and both internal and external resources for help with anxiety, depression, stress, resilience and a range of other issues.
