Message from Claire
Dear Students,
Exam Timetables should be out this week, and this will help you plan the last few weeks of Semester. Please remember that the Exam Timetable can't be changed for individual students, so you will have to work your holidays around the dates, I'm afraid! Take some time over the next couple of weeks to find the exam venue, so that you know where it is when the time comes!
Have a good week!
Claire,
Dr. Claire Bohan, Dean of Students

Skills Development
Avoiding plagiarism
As you know by now, plagiarism means presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own. It is a serious academic offence, even when it happens unintentionally. To avoid plagiarism, you should always cite and reference, even if you are just giving a broad summary, or referring to a theory or argument developed by someone else. The only exception is information considered to be common knowledge, but be mindful that what is understood as common knowledge may vary from discipline to discipline.

Health & Wellbeing
Extenuating Circumstances
Looking after your academic wellbeing is a crucial part of your life as a student. Sometimes life does not go to plan, or an issue creeps up that cannot be avoided. These are also referred to as extenuating circumstances: circumstances which have a significant impact on your academic performance and ability to complete assessments to the best of your ability. This can occur at any time.
If you have had extenuating circumstances which have affected your ability to perform at your best, you need to let the University know about this as soon as possible. The earlier you seek help, the better the University can support you. Information on 'extenuating circumstances' can be found on these Registry pages.
If you need other supports, you can find all the information you need at Student Support and Development.
