Dr. Claire Bohan, Dean of Students
Message from Claire
I hope you all enjoyed your second week of lectures and are settling well into classes! Don't forget to sign up for a Club or Society, as it is really important to balance your studies with some down time; it will also help you learn new skills and develop passions you never knew you had.
Lots of great events on again this week, so take a look below and register where necessary.
Wishing you all the best for the coming week!
Claire,
Dr. Claire Bohan, Dean of Students
Focus this week
Skills Development
DEVELOP 2025/26, is your centralised skills hub where you can acquire, develop and master new skills at your own pace, available 24/7.
Let's Talk Healthy Relationships
DEVELOP contains lots of resources to help you navigate healthy relationships at university and contribute to a positive DCU community. This week we recommend the following micro-courses:
-
Healthy Relationships (new in 2025/26) covers how to apply healthy behaviours and standards in the real and digital worlds, and how to recognise and address unacceptable behaviours.
-
TiLT is a role-play game that will help you understand how identities shape our social interactions, recognise forms of bias (gender, racial, ethnic) and reflect on your role in making the campus more inclusive.
-
Active* Consent helps you understand consent versus not consent, sexual violence and its legal definitions in Irish Law, and how to support your peers if they disclose a negative sexual experience.
Health & Wellbeing
This week is the European Week of Sport, which is celebrating its 10th year! It is a European wide initiative that encourages us to move more, no matter how high or low our fitness levels.
This year's theme is “Move More, Scroll Less”, which most of us can identify with. Take a moment this week to consider joining a club or society or just taking the time to go for a walk around campus. There are lots of routes to try on campus and nearby.
If you would like more information on physical activity you can check out the physical activity section on our DCU Healthy website.
For more information on the European Week of Sport and events near you, check out Sport Ireland for details.
