First Year Undergraduate Orientation Schedules
The Orientation Schedules have been compiled with a view to ensuring that you are well equipped with all of the knowledge you need to start you on your way to a successful university career. Year on year, we listen to the feedback from First Year students and add or remove sessions to ensure that everything you take part in during this first week is highly relevant to you, as a new student in DCU.
During this week, you will be given the opportunity to collect your student card, meet academic, administrative and student support staff, learn what is expected of you – and what you can expect in this new educational setting, get to know classmates and begin to feel at home on the DCU campuses.
The days you will spend with us this week are intensive however, and this is only the beginning of your 'learning period'. During the year, various student support units will offer workshops / presentations and walk-in clinics to assist you in this transition from second to third level education. These will be advertised on the Student Services Notice Boards - or you can drop into the Student Advice Centre in the Henry Grattan Building, DCU Glasnevin Campus/C Block on the St Patrick’s campus, to pick up information during Orientation Week.
Additional Orientation Sessions have been organised for the following groups:
Disability & Learning Support: Students who enter through DARE will be notified.
Access Students who enter through HEAR will be notified directly.
Mature Students Writing Week: Mature students will be contacted in mid August. Details here.
Make sure to attend all of the sessions so that you don't miss anything that you may need at a later stage in the year, enjoy getting to know your new classmates and, importantly, don't hesitate to ask any member of staff or the 'student helpers' around campus, if you find yourself lost or confused at any time!
