Briefly describe how you have integrated these themes into your module
This module examines sustainable development in the context of health and healthcare, and provides content concerning key themes including sustainable development processes, the sustainable development goals, planetary health, social determinants of health, health inequalities and inequities, resource rich and poor countries, and gender inequality. Module learning objectives include; 1) to examine sustainable development in relation to health, 2) to understand the unequal distribution of resources, services, and opportunities, and how this process affects sustainable development and population health, and 3) to examine and understand approaches and policies (e.g. sustainable development goals) aimed at improving equity, health and sustainability.
Briefly describe the impact you hope integrating these approaches will have on students who complete the module
The module aims to facilitate awareness and understanding concerning sustainable development, the key factors affecting its progress, and the interlinkages between sustainable development and health, including health outcomes, inequalities, and inequities. It is hoped that students will gain an understanding of the key policy approaches concerning sustainable development, including the sustainable development goals, and how these interlink with and impact health and healthcare.
