Biographical Details

Karen Buckley is an academic developer in the Teaching Enhancement Unit. Karen supports the continuing development and professional practice of colleagues across DCU and offers expertise and leadership to a range of initiatives designed to enhance institutional teaching and learning.

As a qualified post-primary school teacher and experienced lecturer in teacher education, Karen has enjoyed working in a range of educational settings in second level, further education and higher education.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Sociology, a Master of Arts Degree in Sociology and Post Graduate Diploma in Education. She is currently a Doctoral candidate in Maynooth University where she is exploring Teacher Education, Identity and Professional Development practices.

In 2017, Karen was appointed by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr. Katherine Zappone to the Board of Council at Gaisce - The President's Award. Karen is actively involved in Governance and Safeguarding subcommittees and hopes to perform a key role in securing better outcomes and brighter futures for young people during her three year term.
