Clare Gormley is an academic developer with DCU Teaching Enhancement Unit who has worked in the arena of technology-enhanced learning (in both academic and corporate contexts) since 1996. A Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association (FSEDA), Clare has a particular interest in supporting the professional development of academic staff for enhanced learning and teaching.
Clare has an MSc in Applied eLearning and has worked with faculty from multiple disciplines to design and develop a broad range of online and blended learning experiences. She has published in a range of peer-reviewed publications on assessment, professional learning, learning design, and the use of innovative technologies in teaching. In April 2017 she established 'The Sipping Point', a highly successful community of practice at DCU for staff to share, discuss, and improve their teaching practice. Twice nominated for a DCU President's Award for supporting excellence in teaching, Clare is currently engaged in researching assessment workload challenges and also the use of audio feedback approaches with large class groups.
Clare teaches the accredited modules 'Online Teaching' and 'Assessment & Feedback' at DCU. She is a committee member of the Educational Developers in Ireland Network (EDIN). She is also a member of the Digital Learning Research Network which includes over 50 staff with a research interest, and range of scholarly outputs, in this area.
