TEU Activity Descriptions

The Teaching Enhancement Unit run a range of professional learning activity types. To maximise benefit to participants, details are provided below on what to expect from the various types.

Activity Type	Description
Clinic	This is an opportunity to seek advice from/consult with a member of the TEU team without the need to make a prior appointment. The topic(s) of the clinic will be determined by the specific needs/questions of the participants. Participants may join the clinic at any point during the allocated time but should note that there may be a need to wait if a discussion is already underway with another participant. Clinics are usually online and are not recorded.
Webinar	Webinars are predominantly presentation-led with no expectation of specific participant interactivity via e.g. break out rooms. Participants may still ask/answer questions via the chat function or by turning on their microphones. Webinars may or not be recorded.
In-person Workshop	Workshops are designed to be interactive with opportunities for discussion and community building. A greater proportion of the time in a workshop involves participants working actively (with or without technology) on a discussion topic or exercise. Participants may be asked to bring devices or artefacts with them.
Online Workshop	Online workshops (hosted via Zoom) are designed to be interactive with opportunities for discussion and community building. A greater proportion of the time in an online workshop involves participants working actively in breakout rooms or via interactive tools such as Vevox on a discussion topic or exercise.
CoP meeting	Communities of Practice (CoPs) are meeting spaces (online, in-person or hybrid) for colleagues with a shared interest and/or experience in the specific focus of the CoP. It is expected that members of a CoP interact regularly, exchange ideas, and collaborate on solving problems, which allows them to build shared knowledge and deepen their expertise.
