TEU Update 27 November 2025
The problems facing people and the planet do not respect disciplinary lines, so neither should the solutions.
This session will bring together staff members from all of DCU's faculties. Participants will consider how their discipline relates to issues of social, global and climate justice and reflect upon how it may not have all the answers, before exploring how collaboration and interdisciplinary approaches can have greater impact.
Where: DCU Business School, Room Q219
When: Wednesday 3rd December 1pm - 2:30pm
Please register in advance here.
Thursday December 4, 10am - 1.30pm, Polaris Building DCU Glasnevin Campus

Enrolling external examiners to Loop module pages
You may wish to enrol your external examiner to your module page so that they can peruse students’ submitted coursework. If they already hold a non-DCU Loop account, you should be able to enrol them with the role of “External examiner” through the usual method - by selecting “Participants” and then “Enrol users” and searching for and selecting them.
Newly appointed external examiners will have their non-DCU Loop accounts created in advance by the TEU (with thanks to the Guru team for supplying the details). Therefore they should appear in the enrolment screen when you search for them.
Please note that all holders of non-DCU Loop accounts need to authenticate into Loop via multi-factor authentication.
Online Workshop: “Making the Grade: Loop Gradebook and Grades Transfer”
Date: Mon December 1 @ 1pm
In this session aimed at DCU module co-ordinators and lecturers, we’ll cover setting up Loop Gradebook to ensure the correct grade visibility, weighting, and overall calculation of student coursework grades. It will also demonstrate the Grades Transfer process to transfer student's Loop grades as their coursework total to the student information system, Banner.
Registration is essential. Session will be recorded and circulated afterwards.
Check your Turnitin Similarity text-matching settings
If you want student submissions to Loop Assignments to be text-matched, you must ensure these settings are applied before students start submitting.
Please also notify students that they must accept the End User Licence Agreement (EULA) before uploading a file to a Loop Assignment to be processed by Turnitin Similarity. They only need to do this once for the entire site. There is a helpful Turnitin Similarity resource on the Loop 101 for Students support page which you may also wish to share with your students.
The final Loop Reflect online drop-in clinic of the semester will take place as follows:
Friday 5 December, 12pm - 1pm, Join via Zoom
The drop-in clinic is an informal, unstructured space where any student or staff member who has a question about Loop Reflect can come and get guidance. Please circulate the details of this clinic to your students if they are using Loop Reflect this semester.
Note that this is the final Reflect clinic of the semester, so you are strongly encouraged to attend if you have any outstanding questions or need assistance, as the end-of-semester approaches.
Clinic details are also in the TEU Events Calendar.
