Briefly describe how you have integrated these themes into your module
The students are given the challenge of determining the most suitable energy storage system to solve the problem of Irelands renewable energy intermittency. While they have free reign to select whatever system they want, they have to justify their selection using the triple bottom line tools of whole life cycle analysis - Environmental Life Cycle Assessment, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, and Social Life Cycle Assessment.
Briefly describe the impact you hope integrating these approaches will have on students who complete the module
The hope is that when the students go out into the world, regardless of the line of work they decide to pursue, they will understand that the decisions they make will have multiple and far reaching consequences, not just in economic and financial terms, but also on the environment and society as a whole.
