Darkness into Light is taking place on Saturday 9th May at 4.15a.m. for the ninth time on DCU campus.

Darkness into Light is taking place on Saturday 9th May 2026, at 4.15a.m. This will be the ninth year that DCU has hosted his event.

Darkness into Light is Pieta's (national charity for suicide and self-harm prevention) primary fundraising event of the year, to raise funds for their life-saving free services. 

This inspiring event symbolises hope, as communities come together to support mental health, and suicide and self-harm prevention.

The event consists of a five kilometre walk circling DCU's Glasnevin campus, walking from Collins Avenue, to the Ballymun Road, to Griffith Avenue, Swords Road, and turning onto Collins Avenue again before returning to DCU campus.

The route is wheelchair, buggy and dog friendly.

All are welcome, but registration is essential.
