DCU’s Strategic Plan 2017 – 2022 for Talent, Discovery, and Transformation explicitly states our commitment to promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across the University through initiatives such as DCU Women in Leadership.
In November 2015, the President, Professor Brian MacCraith, officially launched the Women in Leadership at DCU initiative. The vision for this initiative is that DCU will become a University that explicitly values women as leaders and through this initiative it will become the lived experience of staff across DCU. A wide range of formal and informal initiatives, existing and new, will support the achievement of this ambitious vision. DCU continues to make steady progress in this regard, as reflected by the achievement of the Athena SWAN Bronze award in 2017.
To underline his commitment to Women in Leadership at DCU and the cultural change required the President signed up to the following pledge:
“At a public conference I won’t serve on a panel of two people or more unless there is at least one woman on the panel, not including the Chair” Owen Barder, Director, Centre for Global Development
