Women in Leadership Annual Report

The Women in Leadership Annual Report 2019 represents a summary of activities under the DCU Women in Leadership initiative during 2019.

DCU’s commitment to continue to promote principles of equality and diversity is firmly embedded in its Strategic Plan 2017 - 2022 Talent, Discovery and Transformation. A significant initiative under this goal is DCU Women in Leadership. Launched by the University’s President in November 2015, this progressive initiative was recognised as ‘best practice’ by the UK Equality Challenge Unit during the Athena SWAN awards ceremony in Dublin in 2016.

This report presents a summary of activities under the DCU Women in Leadership initiative and our external collaborations during 2019. Key highlights of 2019 were the noted 13% increase of females at Full Professorial level over the last 5 years, representing an increase in the ratio of females to males at this level of 1:4 to 1:2, females at Professor level rose by 16% in the same period. Furthermore, the percentage of females in Associate Professor and Assistant Professor posts at DCU is now over 40% for each grade. The University also hosted the largest number of events under the Mary McAleese Women in Leadership Lecture Series in 2019, welcoming five speakers and seven panellists to five events over the course of the year.
