Ulster Bank 2009 Graduate Programmes

Just a quick reminder that Ulster Bank's 2009 Graduate Programme
campaign is in full swing! Ulster Bank offer four Graduate Programmes for
2009. These are:
Corporate Markets
Retail Markets
Risk Management
Operations Management (Manufacturing)
They have been accepting applications since early September and would
encourage students to submit their applications asap if interested in any of
this years programmes. Please find the link to the Graduate Careers website
where Graduates can submit their online applications below:
Ulsterbank
Closing date for applications is 28th February 2009. Our first assessment
centre will take place in December 2008.

Accenture on Campus!! Tuesday 4th November |
 |
The Global Management Consulting and Technology firm Accenture will be visiting
DCU next Tuesday 4th November.
They will have an Information Stand in the Street in the Henry Gratton building all
day where you will be able to talk to DCU alumni about careers in Accenture and the
application process.
There will also be a Drop-In CV Clinic from 1 – 3pm in CG28 in the Henry Gratton
building where you can go through your CV with a HR specialist from Accenture and
get tips on how to make it better. Just drop by with your CV for some professional
advice.
The main event of the day will take be the Company Presentation at 5pm in the
1838 Club in the Albert College (entrance opposite the main restaurant). This
presentation will be followed by a wine and canapé reception. This will be a great
opportunity to find out more about what we do ask the team on hand any questions
you may have.

Media Day in QUB |

DCU students are invited to attend the Media Day hosted by Queens University in
Belfast on Wednesday Nov 19th. The aim of the event is to provide students
interested in a career in the media with accurate information and direct contact with a
range of industry professionals. For this events the word 'Media' is defined in the
following way:

Interested in a career in the dynamic, yet competitive media industry?
This is a fantastic opportunity, not to be missed.
• Many leading exhibitors (including BBC, UTV and Northern Ireland Screen)
• A full programme of seminars led by industry experts
• A chance to be ‘In Conversation’ with media celebrities
• Have a go at a range of media demonstrations
• Whether you want to be a presenter, journalist, producer, scriptwriter or
involved in the media in any other way, you’ll find all the information you need at
the Media Careers Day – Belfast.
Various career areas, ranging from the creative to the technical will be represented,
both in the exhibition and also in the programme of workshops and hands on
activities. There will also be workshops and activities scheduled specifically for
students considering a career in the media on the day. You will be able to find full
details at www.mediacareersday.co.uk when the site is launched before the end of
October. Please note entrance is by ticket only. Tickets are £5 and can either be
purchased in person from Queens Unversity from Monday 10th November onwards
from the Student Guidance Centre at Queen’s University Belfast, or on the day in the
Whitla Hall at Queen’s University Belfast before entering the main event.

Nov 7th and in the subject box state clearly Media Day at Queens. The Careers
Service will negotiate to reserve a ticket for you which will be available for you to
collect and pay for on the day.

Postgraduate Studies for Secondary School Teaching |

Students should note that the closing date for competed applicatons to NUI colleges
(NUIKM; NUG; UCC; UCD ) on the common application form is December 1st. This is
a paper application and you need to request an application pack from The
Postgraduate Diploma in Education(NUI) Applications Centre,

Please note that TCD have a separate application form and their closing date is
early Dec. In addition, DCU offers a Postgraduate Diploma on Education, closing

entirely on line at the following url Applications. All applications are open now.
Early application is advisable. Please do not leave it to the last minute.

Careers Tuesday Seminars- Communicating Transferable Skills |

The Careers Service Tuesday seminar series continues each Tuesday from 1.00pm-
2.00pm in Q121 Business School. Please note you can book a place on these
seminars via your portal page. Take a look and choose seminars of specific interest
to you. Next Tuesday- Nov 4th the topic is Communicating Transferable Skills-
what’s all the fuss about/ Demystify ‘transferable skills’ – know what employers are
looking for from you and prepare to succeed. This will be a very practical application
which will significantly help you to communicate effectively to Employers and other
relevant personnel. Looking forward to meeting you at this event.

Fás overseas graduate programme in Sekisui Medical Co.Ltd. |

Interested in working in Japan with Sekisui Medical Co., Ltd come along to CG 11 at
6pm on Tuesday 4th November and find out more about these opportunities.
Suzanne Gallagher currently working with the company on the FAS Overseas grad
programme would love to meet any student interested in the following:
Sekisui Medical is a subsidiary of the major corporation, Sekisui
House. They are advertising two positions for the 2009/2010 academic year.
One position is a 2-year job slot in the Human Development Group. The
successful candidate will be teaching English in year 1, moving onto a more
business orientated role in year 2. Currently, Suzanne is in her second year of her
contract and work in training, education and recruitment, legal affairs, etc and 80%
of my job is conducted in Japanese.
Suzanne is delighted to meet with any student interested in the FAS overseas
graduate programme who are interested in learning about life on the programme in
Japan and Tokyo in particular with Sekisui Medical Co.
