Edition week: 4-Mar-09

 Dear Student,

  Golden Apples!

Congratulations to ENS Society, Alumni Office, Dublin City Enterprise Board and other sponsors of the event, on their initiative to bring Bill Cullen to the Helix on Feb. 24th 2009. A fantastic turnout, to hear a great inspirational speaker. Bill Cullen is one of the very best. He was very generous with his time and expertise and told his personal story in a most engaging way. I recommend his books to you.

Roadmap for Success

What particularly impressed me was his roadmap for success. He highlighted time and again, the importance of hard work, excellence in endeavour, spotting the niche in the market place, surrounding yourself with positive likeminded friends, the importance of daily physical exercise, an ability to take risks and a capacity to smile. He presented us with 6 golden apples which signify his roadmap to success. Read his book ‘Golden Apples-six simple steps to success’ to find the key to the information contained in the following acronym:

• A= Attitude for Achieving
• P= People Power
• P= Plan with Passion
• L= Learn to be Lucky
• E= Energy to Excel
• S= Sell with a Smile

This worked for him. It can easily work for you too, if you take control of and responsibility for yourself!

Quote from Bill on the night-
“It’s not how good you are, but how great you want to be”

Over to you! Let us know how we, in the Careers Service can be of help to you with your current career development plans- E-mail us at careers@dcu.ie Wishing you continued success.

WHO IS POSITIVE EQUITY? Positive Equity is a top proprietary trading group, established in January, 2009. It was a part of the Saxon Financial group until January 2009 when three leading entrepreneurs who have over 25 years experience in the business decided that this was their chance to take a step into creating their own personal work space for themselves and their employees. There are currently 25 full time traders in Positive Equity and 10 trainees. Their company trades futures on bonds, currencies, energy (oil and gas), and equity indexes across exchanges in Europe, Asia and the US. They would like to hire and train 6-8 trainee traders. They will teach you how to trade successfully in today’s fast-paced electronically traded global securities markets. Together, they will turn you into a successful trader. This is an incredible opportunity for anybody attracted to the challenges and rewards that are inherent to the securities markets and trading world. They are looking for confident, disciplined individuals who have studied subjects such as finance, maths or IT at university. They want people with drive who are enthusiastic about performing to the best of their abilities and have a strong sense of self-awareness to become part of their trading team. Final year finance with particular emphasis on MBS in Finance .
