Postgraduate Study? – Find out more on Destinations®
 Hello there,
As part of your career planning, you may be considering postgraduate study. If considering postgraduate study, there are a number of questions you should ask:
1. Why am I interested in postgraduate study?
2. Will I undertake a Research or Taught postgraduate programme? Am I interested in following a Research Masters or PhD route in my chosen specialist area working with my supervisor or is a taught postgraduate programme, following a structured timetable, the route for me?
3. Should I consider postgraduate conversion courses which offer an opportunity to
change direction, for example, the Professional Diploma in Accounting (PDA) in DCU.
4. Should I opt for full-time, part-time, and remote or distance/open learning option?
5. What is the cost and how will I fund my studies?
6. Can I extend my Higher Education grant to cover my studies?
7. Am I interested in postgraduate study overseas and if so what country and what
institution?
8. What are the issues which I may need to consider at this point?
When considering postgraduate study, be sure to understand your motivations for
pursuing the course, the potential benefits and the financial costs.
