Edition week: 9-Mar-10

 Dear Student,

This week I draw your attending to the following significant events:

1. Careers Day in the Helix Wednesday March 10th 2010—a great opportunity for you to meet with employers, attend a range of interesting seminars and bring your CV to be reviewed by experts at the CV Review Clinic. In these challenging times, the companies are investing a lot of time and energy to come to DCU to meet you, to get to know you, to tell you about the opportunities they have on offer at this time and to learn at first hand, what you have to offer them, your success in terms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies. A good show of support from DCU students and graduates is essential. Do your best to make the event the success it deserves to be. Check the list of confirmed companies on the www.dcu.ie/students/careers/careers_day.shtml

2. Profiling for Success- Do you know what Personality group you belong to? Have you checked out our aptitudes –Numerical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning and Abstract Reasoning? You can do this for free in DCU- (outside this would cost in excess of €200). The Careers Service has licensed an excellent computer based package which you can avail of from the Careers website www,dcu.ie/students/careers/students_grad.shtml

Profiling for Success is a great package which will give you significant objective information about yourself, This will be of great help in your career decision making process. It will take about an hour in total to complete but you can do it in stages. It is an hour well spent. I suggest you do not let this opportunity pass you by! You will get an impressive report on each of the sections of the programme you do. It will go directly into your e-mail account (it does not come to the Careers Service). In fact if you want to discuss any aspect of the reports with a careers adviser, you will need to forward on your report to the Careers Service careers@dcu.ie (in subject box, put in Profiling for Success) or the Careers Adviser in question. So what are you waiting for? Do it right now, this week. This is a step by step guide to access it:
 Go to the Careers website www.dcu.ie/students/careers/students_grad.shtml
 Choose Profiling for Success
 Enter your novel user name and password
 Scroll down to the bottom of the page and write down the codes you see at the end of the page
 Enter the profiling for Success web site and you are in business.
Good luck with this.

That’s all till next week.
Regards,
Muireann and the Careers Service Team.
