2. Destinations
Have you discovered Destinations® on the Careers Web site? If not, you’re missing a wonderful resource. Today, I will introduce you briefly to it, give a quick overview and in the coming weeks, I will highlight different sections of the site which you should browse, add to your favourites and make your own.
What is it?
Destinations®, is an electronic career planning resource for students and recent graduates, designed to help you to manage your career from university to work and beyond. This website has been developed by the University of Reading and is being customised for Irish use in DCU by the DCU Careers Service and other member institutions of Graduate Careers Ireland (GCI).
How can it help you?
• Learn more about your career and lifestyle preferences
• Recognise what you can offer the world of work and what it can offer you
• Think broadly about career options and patterns of work
• Pursue career ideas
• Identify actions you can take now to start your career journey
How many Sections?
It has 3 main sections divided into 500 stand alone individual web pages –
a. Topics- Career planning information divided into topics, each containing information, advice, video, and activities and arranged in ABC order for easy access.
b. Resources- Quick access to videos and downloads featured in the site, additional video clips, and information on local resources and
c. Contacts and/or local resources, a section which DCU Careers Services will be adding to in the summer months.
Take a look - go to careers web site www.dcu.ie/careers and from the students and graduates page, follow the links. You will be asked for your user name and log in as it is under licence to DCU Careers Service.
3. As St Patrick’s Day falls during the week, may I wish you all a most enjoyable and fabulous day!
