  Exam results are out! Well done for all your hard work. Today, I am going to talk about job hunting. Some things to do this week:

1. Register with gradireland to receive job alerts and read the information booklet relevant to your area
2. Check vacancies advertised on the Vacancy Section of the Careers Service Website - www.dcu.ie/careers
3. Take some online personality tests at http://www.dcu.ie/students/careers/student/mypersonality/index.shtml (you will need your novell username and password to gain access).
4. Prepare a CV – information on the Careers and gradireland web sites
5. Be a star at Interviews - information available from the Careers and gradireland web sites.
6. Consider alternative job-hunting methods by tapping into the hidden job market. This includes networking: family, friends, friends of friends, professional associations, contacts from existing staff.

 Arab Republic of Egypt – Scholarship offer to Irish Students

  The Ministry of Higher Education of Egypt has decided to grant five scholarships to Irish students who wish to pursue their education in the field of Arabic studies.

Applications should be submitted via the website of the Cultural Affairs and Scholarships Division of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education at www.mohe-casm.edu.eg by the end of August 2010. All enquiries should be made directly to the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Dublin, on (01) 660 6566 or (01) 660 6718.

 JED (Junior Experts in Delegation) Deadline 9th July 2010

  The European Commission has launched the Junior Experts in Delegation (JED) Programme for the 2010-2012 period. The JED programme is aimed at providing young graduates and professionals with experience in the EU’s External Service Delegations in developing countries.

2 candidates from Ireland will be selected. Applications should be sent to Ciara.OFloinn@dfa.ie and Joanne.Staunton@dfa.ie no later than Friday 9th July 2010. A signed copy of the application form should also be sent to the above at Permanent Representation of Ireland, Rue Froissart 50, 1040 Brussels, Belgium.  Korea Working Holiday Programme

  The Government of the Republic of Korea and the Irish government have established a Working Holiday Programme between the two countries.

Irish people aged between 18 and 30 are eligible to apply for the Working Holiday Visa (H-1). This is a multiple entry Visa and is valid for a period of 12 months. The maximum stay permitted on the basis of a H-1 Visa will be 12 months without the possiblilty of extension. Each year up to 400 Working Holiday Visas will be issued to Irish people.
