Welcome to Final Year!
 On behalf of the staff in the Careers Service, I extend a sincere welcome back to you all. For many of you, the year ahead will be a very busy one, with your focus on academic studies and continuing your career exploration including job and/or further study search. We suggest you use your time well, focus on what you really want to achieve by the end of the year and be smart, effective and efficient in your plan of action.
The Careers Service can assist the Final Year student in developing and managing your Career Plans. Read the following sections below for key actions, dates and events of interest to Final Year students. Free guides/information on career sectors and employers are available from the Careers Service in Room CG28, in the Henry Grattan Building.
Set time aside each week to work on your Career exploration and plan, you may need to register with the Careers Service via your Portal page. Please note at times class lists will be used to alert you of Job Opportunities or Employer Events of interest, be sure to check this out!
Make the most of this year as the DCU tagline says 'You can go anywhere from here'. The Careers Service looks forward to meeting with you at a future campus event starting the week 28th September 'Making the Most of Final Year' presentations.

Final Year Presentation - "Getting the Most out of your Final Year" |

Kick start your Career Plan by attending a talk specifically for Final Year students. 'Making the most of your Final Year - what you need to do now' will take place on the week begining 28th September, and will be repeated on two other dates.
Details as follows:
- Tuesday 28th September 5:00pm-6:00pm, Room Q120
- Wednesday 29th September 1:00pm-2:00pm, Room QG21
- Friday 1st October 12:00pm-1:00pm, Room XG19
We encourage all final year disciplines to attend. Topics include: using your time wisely, things you need to do now to manage your career, job search and postgraduate activity and an outline of the main events of the year.

2010 Accountancy & Finance Afternoon, 6th October, The Helix |

Would you like to hear first hand what it will be like working for an Accountancy firm?
Why not come along to the 2010 Accountancy & Finance Afternoon, on Wednesday 6th October, The Helix, from 12:00pm - 6:00pm. We have a range of firms including the BIG 4 Accountancy Firms and Institutes along with ex-DCU graduates lined up to give you an insight into the wonderful world of working in Accountancy.
In addition to exhibition stands we will be holding a series of seminars as follows:

Visiting Employer Programme - what's this about? |

The Visiting Employer Program (VEP) is your opportunity to meet directly with employers interested in recruiting DCU students.
The benefits to you as a Final Year student:
- know what job oppotunities/graduate recruitment programmes are on offer
- meet and talk with company representatives
- find out what their application procedure requires, tips and hints
- your chance to ask 'that question' you always wanted to ask that company!
