Edition week: 1-Mar-12

 Dear Students

Time to say goodbye! Slán !
All good things come to an end and next Wednesday Feb 29th 2012, I retire from DCU and from the Careers Service, which has been my life for over a quarter of a century. I take this opportunity to thank you, the students and graduates of DCU, for all the wonderful memories and the great times. It was an absolute privilege to accompany you along the road of career exploration and discovery and to offer you, careers education, information, advice and guidance. Thank you for your engagement with the Careers Service and for your willingness to know and understand, the importance of embracing your power and of taking responsibility and control of your future. Sometimes a gentle push from the Careers Service was necessary. The following quote from Guillaume Apollinaire may resonate-

‘ Come to the edge, he said.
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge, he said.
They came,
He pushed them…and they flew.’

I know you will be a great success, whatever you do and where ever you go. Once a DCU graduate, always a DCU graduate, with great capacity and tremendous potential .
I wish you every success now and in the future, as you walk confidently in the direction of your dreams!

Beir, Bua agus Beannacht.
Le dea-ghuí agus mór-mheas
Muireann and the Careers Team

Eversheds Summer Internship 2012
Closing Date - 9th March @ 5pm

The Eversheds Summer Internship Programme gives interns a full insight into the workings of a commercial law firm (and what it is like to be a trainee). We expect at the end of the Internship Programme to have identified a number of interns who will progress to our Traineeship Programme.

As a summer intern you will be assigned to a team in one of our three main departments; commercial, property or litigation, or one of the specialised teams. Reporting directly to the Partner of that team, your workload will be varied and interesting. The responsibility given to a summer intern is equal to that of a trainee. We feel that the 11 week period really allows our interns to fully experience the realities of what life as a trainee with the firm would be like.

As part of the Summer Internship Programme all interns will receive dedicated know-how’ sessions and training. At the end of your 11 week rotation you will meet with the Partner of your team and a member of the HR department to receive feedback on your performance.

Programme Dates
The Eversheds Summer Internship Programme runs from April/May until July each year for a period of 11 weeks. Please note that all applicants should be available for the full 11 weeks.

Requirements
Applications are open to all undergraduates and postgraduates who have completed at least two years of their degree and achieved a 2:1 grade or higher. We accept applications from all degree disciplines.

Application Process
Please click here to complete our online application form. You will receive log in details and a password that will enable you to go back to edit your application form. Once you have submitted your application form you should receive a confirmation email within two days. If you have any problems please email us at recruitment@eversheds.ie.

Closing Date
All applications should be submitted by 5pm on Friday 9 March 2012.
