I chose Biomedical Engineering for its versatile career opportunities and the chance to explore various sectors within engineering. The course exceeded my expectations by providing a wide range of knowledge and skills. It effectively balanced hands-on technical modules with theory-based learning, enhancing both learning methods and material comprehension.

I enjoyed the mix of both team-based projects and self-guided projects. It allowed me to meet and work with various different students within the course and help each other by understanding the strengths of each member of the team. I particularly enjoyed the modules including technical projects. These included modules such as the MM227 Thermofluid Mechanics boat-building project, and Technical Drawing Autonomous Car building project. During my Master's Degree, I had an extended placement at a major biopharmaceutical company in Ireland.

This experience, combined with career-oriented learning modules, inspired me to pursue a future in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry, aligning perfectly with my course of study. Although it is very demanding and requires a lot of hard work, the versatility and career progression options that are presented to you on completion of the course is one that is very appealing. If you are a self-motivated and ambitious individual working towards a successful career as an engineer, this is the course for you!
