Spam - Phishing DCU Email
Spammers have targetted DCU Email users (particularly students) with phishing mails like those below. These messages are false. They do not come from DCU. They are a variation of standard phishing mails which attempt to obtain personal information from you for their advantage. In this case your mail account will be used by these people to send spam from your account.
What to do if you receive one of these messages ?
- Never reply to the message
- Forward a copy of the message with full headers to helpdesk@dcu.ie
Contact DCU Information Systems & Services if you are unsure how to do this
In webmail simply click 'View Headers' before forwarding the message - After forwarding the message to us please delete it
What to do if you replied to one of these messages with your password ?
- Change your Email password immediately
- Contact DCU Information Systems & Services to let us know this has happened
- If this password is used by you on other accounts reset them also
- Never use that password again for any of your accounts
- Never share your password(s) again with anyone - not even DCU computer services
