DCU VIP 2014 Fresher Revealed

A Donegal student has been unveiled as DCU’s VIP Fresher for 2014.  Matthew Smyth, who recently started his first year on the BSc Mechatronic Engineering programme at DCU, will enjoy a DCU VIP Fresher experience for a full academic year.  The package fit for a VIP includes:

  • free accommodation
  • free tickets to all DCU Students’ Unions events
  • free gym membership
  • free Domino’s pizza
  • free food at DCU Spar
  • free food at DCU restaurants
  • free car-parking
  • free hairdressing treatments
  • a VIP Helix package.


Matthew, a former student of Royal & Prior Comprehensive School, Raphoe clinched the prize by entering the most original video explaining why he deserved to become DCU’s VIP Fresher for 2014.  Reacting to news of his win, Matthew said,

“Winning the VIP Fresher competition has been a real help in settling in to DCU. The accommodation, gym, restaurants and SU events are all brilliant. I couldn't have asked for a better prize!”

Any students applying to CAO can apply for the 2015 VIP Fresher Package.  Further information is available at http://www.dcu.ie/node/45892.  The prize will be awarded to the student with the most original entry who meets the following criteria - has chosen a DCU course as one of their CAO choices, met the minimum entry requirements for that course and has been awarded a place on that course.

Closing date for receipt of entries: Friday 7th August 2015.
