DCU Mercy teams compete in National Cup finals this weekend

Two DCU Mercy basketball teams are through to the finals of the Hula Hoops National Cup this weekend.

The under-20s women’s squad advanced to the final of the Hula Hoops National Cup on January 11th after defeating Brunell by four points. Their final against Killester starts this Saturday at 10am.

The under-18s team face Brunell in the final on Sunday. U18 Mercy beat Fr Matthews by 12 points in the semi-final and Meteors by 24 points in their first game. The final starts at 12.30pm.

DCU Mercy basketball are also enjoying success outside the National Cup as Coach Mark Ingle’s Premier League team currently stand top of the table. They are seven points ahead of second placed Killester. Their next game takes place on February 14th against Maxol Wildcats in the DCU Sports Centre.

The National Cup finals have sold out the past two years in a row and there are eleven games scheduled for this weekend at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght. Tickets are available online on Eventbrite.ie. All are welcome to the National Basketball Arena this weekend to show their support for both DCU Mercy teams!
