Sports and Recreation Officer: Ms Fiona Justin
Unit Report

During the period under review the Sports Complex continued to be used by a wide range of students, staff, graduate and community members.

Unplanned achievements for this period included the granting of Higher Education Authority funding for disability in Sport. Disability awareness training for all the Sports Complex staff. There was a strategic relationship developed with many international Universities through conference's, seminars and various contacts.

The Sports complex got involved with and developed links with Dublin Corporation Outpost Officers as well as clubs and groups such as Tolka Rovers, Glasnevin Football Club, Focus Ireland, Ballymun Comprehensive and North Dublin Access Group.

Organisations with which the Sports Complex have developed links through facilitation, training and development include CUSAI, ILAM Ireland, GAA Ireland and Australia, Adidas, Lucozade and Tennis Ireland to name but a few.

These links have been essential to the development of DCU Sports Complex.

St. Clare's pitches continue to facilitate College Teams and outside groups and are arguably the best playing surfaces in the North of Dublin.

The continuous summer camps and programme activities available at the Sport Complex maintain this facility as one of the best providers of Sport & Recreation among 3rd Level Institutions in Ireland.
