Biographical Details

Jean-Philippe Imbert lectures in Comparative Literature and Sexuality Studies in the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies (SALIS) at Dublin City University. He has co-created and chairs the MA in Sexuality Studies (MASS) and also  lectures on the MA in Comparative Literature (MACL).He runs a Research Centre in Sexuality Studies, called EROSS (Expressions, Research, Orientations: Sexuality Studies). He researches and publishes on literary and artistic representations of  Mexican, Irish and French 20th and 21st centuries, focusing on  the relationship between sexuality, gender and the aesthetic treatment of evil, trauma, angst and perversion. His PhD supervision covers topics relating to the relationships between contemporary sexuality, art and literature. He has been president of the ADEFFI (Association des Études Françaises et Francophones) and of the Irish Association of Mexican Studies. He is Research and Education Officer for IASSCS (The International Association for the Studies of Sexuality, Culture and Society). He has also curated international art exhibitions (photography) in Bangalore, Delhi, Dublin, Mexico City and Rome, and is Officier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques (France).
