Head of Digital Communications - Jane Last

Jane Last is Head of Digital Communications, part of the wider DCU Comms department. Jane joined DCU in 2019. Previous to joining DCU, she enjoyed a 17-year career in journalism in both regional and national news outlets. This included a role as Deputy Editor of Independent.ie, and Head of News & Visuals with Independent News & Media, where she was responsible for news content across all digital and print platforms for the group from 2015 to 2019.

Videographer/Photographer - Kyran O'Brien

Kyran joined DCU Digital Comms team in 2021. Prior to this, he enjoyed a 30 year career as a videographer and photographer at local, national and international level, capturing news, current affairs, sport, lifestyle, entertainment, fashion and events involving high profile individuals. 

Kyran worked primarily with Independent News & Media, and worked with independent.ie, the Irish Independent, the Sunday Independent, the Herald, Sunday Tribune and Fingal Independent. He has also worked on a number of high profile TV shows including 'The Voice of Ireland', Eurovision and 'Dancing With The Stars' 

Videographer/Photographer - Daire Hall

Daire oversees and produces the in-house video and photo content for the Digital Communications Team. 

He assesses clients' needs from pre-production, scripting, storyboarding, filming to editing and delivery. He also supervises external productions and collaborations within the university.

Web Specialist - Stuart Heenan

Stuart joined DCU Digital Communications in October 2021. He is a website designer with over 20 years experience, having worked on numerous online design projects combining both user interface design principles, processes and usability methodologies.

Stuart's experience has also allowed him to gain an in-depth knowledge of accessibility, responsive web design and search engine optimisation.

Social Media & Online Engagement Editor - Gerard Shiels

Gerard Shiels is the Social Media & Online Engagement Editor in the Communications, Marketing and Events Department. He joined the DCU Digital Communications Team in 2023 and he previously worked in the DCU Office of Student Life whilst he studied in DCU. His work area and key responsibilities is to manage and create content for the University's central social media platforms.

Social Media & Communications Editor - Jennifer Magee

Jennifer Magee is our Social Media & Communications Editor embedded in the Student Recruitment Department. She joined the DCU Digital Communications Team in 2023, having previously graduated from DCU in 2016, with her degree in Communication Studies. 

After graduating from DCU, Jennifer worked in the areas of design, communications & content creation for companies in both the US and Ireland, also gaining experience within the Internal Communications Department of Ryanair. Her key responsibilities are to create content and showcase our Student Recruitment Department, sharing our current students' experiences and accomplishments with the future of DCU.
