2nd Biannual Irish Sexuality Studies Conference - Self, Selves and Sexualities

Building upon the success of the First Self, Selves and Sexualities International Conference 2010, the Sexuality Studies team at DCU is delighted to host the second cross-faculty conference, in keeping with the academic ethos of Dublin City University. It is co-organised by Dr Mel Duffy, School of Nursing (SON), and Jean-Philippe Imbert, School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies (SALIS). SON is part of the Faculty of Science and Health, and SALIS belongs to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at Dublin City University.

The many discourses of Sexuality Studies permeate and inform the different narratives of life, be they at private or public levels. For this very reason, this cross-, inter-, and multi-disciplinary conference is aimed at enhancing sexual literacy, generating well-being and advocating social justice.

The aim of the conference is to provide a global platform on which to discuss, in an open fashion, the processes and variations in sexual cultures, sexual identities and gender role formation. In so doing, it is hoped to elaborate on the many debates informing the cultural, economic, ethical, historical, and social foundations of sexuality, at personal and societal levels.

The conference is open to everybody, and further information can be accessed from: http://www.dcu.ie/salis/conferencesexualitystudies2012/index.shtml
