Tribute to Séamus Heaney

Professor Brian MacCraith has extended the sympathies of the DCU community to the family of Irish poet, playwright and Nobel Laureate, Seamus Heaney on the news of his death today. Professor MacCraith said, “With the passing today of Seamus Heaney, Ireland has lost a true genius and one of Ireland’s most distinctive voices. In life, Seámus was a humble and modest man, yet was a giant in the Irish and international literary firmament. In death he has gifted to us and the world a towering legacy in his significant body of work. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.” Séamus Heaney was conferred with an honorary degree by DCU in May 2011.
