Chaplaincy Services
Inter Faith Centre
The Inter Faith Centre, located next to the Hub Student Centre,
provides a welcome space for all. Here we support people
in their faith development and belief in God. We support spirituality,
provide hospitality, welcome all people and together
we are working to create one family on the Campus of DCU.
Many students/staff will come to talk with one of the Chaplains
or simply to relax with friends in a comfortable surrounding
and avail of our hospitality and religious services.
The Centre is open to all faith traditions as well as those who
are simply looking for a quiet space to relax.
‘An Tearmann’
This is the Main Room in the Inter Faith Centre and is used by
all faith traditions for liturgical and religious celebrations.
Catholic & Anglican Eucharist is celebrated on a regular basis.
Islamic Jumu’ah Prayer is held every Friday and all other faith
communities have their prayer gatherings in this room. ‘An
Tearmann’ is an old Celtic expression which means ‘place of
refuge’ or ‘sanctuary’. Many of the Clubs & Societies also
hold their meetings in this area. The room accommodates 80
people sitting and has the capacity to hold an extra 30 people
using stools. An Tearmann is open for use by all groups in
DCU and should be booked in advance with Reception.

Main Foyer of Centre
This is the main open area of the Centre. Many students will gather here to enjoy a ‘free’ cup of tea or coffee or simply to relax and enjoy conversation with other students and staff from DCU. There are 14 chairs and three tables in the area. You can either enjoy a quiet cuppa or socialise with others around the bigger table for some fun and crack. This area is regularly used for special coffee mornings. The mature students meet regularly here.

The Quiet Room
This room is a beautiful space for personal reflection/ meditation and prayer. This is possibly the only ‘quiet’ space on this very busy campus of DCU. The room is used by people of all faiths and none as many simply wish to enter the quiet area for some quality quiet time in their lives. There is a journal for people to write personal reflections of their experience of university life. Also, hanging from the ceiling is a wonderful mobile designed by a former member of staff (Susan Cuffe) with many words and phrases to assist with meditation and reflection. The Blessed Sacrament is reserved in this room for Catholics.

The Meeting Room
This area is a favourite with many who simply wish to relax and read a paper or book. The room accommodates no more than 10 people comfortably and can be booked with reception for brief meetings or group activities. The room has a feeling of ‘home from home’ atmosphere to assist those who enter to relax and feel ‘at home’.

Kitchen Area
There is a small kitchen area in the Centre which students and staff use throughout the year. There is always tea/coffee, sugar and milk available here. Boiled water is on tap for all to use. There is no charge for this facility however, there is a small donation box beside the tea/coffee, where people can place a small donation which allows us to continue providing hospitality to all who come to our centre.

The Piano
There are not too many pianos on campus. However, this is a top class Kawai Piano and is very popular with our students who use it often. The piano must be booked with reception for use. It is situated in ‘An Tearmann’ the main room in the centre. We ask for a donation of €1 when booking the piano. This enables us to have it professionally tuned every 6 months. The piano can only be booked on a weekly basis.

Electronic Keyboard
The electronic keyboard is also available to use, although not as popular as the piano. It is necessary to book the keyboard when required. We do not ask for any donation towards the use of the keyboard. If you are studying music and need to use either the piano or keyboard just let us know and we will be happy to support you. The keyboard can only be booked on a weekly basis.
