MEng in Electronic Systems
Taught Postgraduate Majors
Three unique Majors are now available within the Masters in Electronic Systems and Masters in Telecommunications Engineering programmes. M.Eng. participants opting for one of these Majors will take four topic-specific core modules, an applied project in their field, plus four other modules available from the wide range of modules on the taught M.Eng. programme.
Nanoelectronics & Photonics Major
The aim of this Major is to deliver leaders in nanoelectronics and photonics, an emerging
interdisciplinary sector with huge predicted growth. This Major focuses on the skills and
knowledge required to produce functional electronic and photonic devices and constituent structures
of nanometer dimensions. This Major applies to the Masters in Electronic Systems

Image Processing & Analysis Major
The growth of applications in manufacturing, biomedicine, media, ICT and the life sciences is creating
a strong demand for graduates in the Image Processing & Analysis field. This Major will prepare graduates
to specialise in the areas of image processing and analysis, computer & machine vision, biomedical imaging
and image synthesis techniques. This Major applies to the Masters in Electronic Systems.

Network Implementation Major
Graduates with this Major will be equipped with the skills and expertise required to implement
tomorrow’s networking protocols on network devices and user equipment. Indicative topics covered are
wireless networking, mesh networks, peer-to-peer networking, sensor networks, GMPLS and future technologies
in these areas. This Major applies to the Masters in Telecommunications Engineering.
