Academic biography

I am an associate professor in the School of Electronic Engineering at Dublin City University, and am the centre director of the Entwine Centre at DCU. (This is a research centre concerning infrastructural support for the Internet of Things.) My research interests include topics in data and computer communications, as well as privacy and security in networks and the Internet of Things in particular. These interests are reflected in my teaching duties. Recent research projects include the Horizon 2020 INPUT project and  its FP7 precursor project, ECONET.  I have worked with IBM on projects funded by the Irish Research Council's Enterprise Partnership Scheme (see the third postgraduate project on this list, and the first postdoctoral project here). These concerned the design of data centre networks, reflecting my long-standing interest in the design of switch fabrics for packet-switched networks.
