Reunion 2009 attracts hundreds of graduates back on campus

This year’s DCU Alumni Reunion took place on Friday 11th of September, 2009. Hundreds of 1984, 1989 and 1999 graduates came back on campus to celebrate this significant milestone. The 2009 Reunion was the first annual reunion to be held on one night for all 25th, 20th and 10th graduation years.

Graduates were invited to receptions in the DCU Business School, School of Biotechnology, School of Computing and School of Electronic Engineering. The reunion was a great opportunity for staff and graduates to reignite contacts and share memories of their class. The Alumni Office received a record attendance for BSc in Biotechnology 1989 and BSc in Computer Applications 1989.

Jim Moore, Chair of the Alumni Council, said: “The Reunion is a great reason for alumni to come back to the university and it is our hope that this will lead on to further involvement with alumni events throughout the year be they social, professional or sporting.”

Following the receptions in each School the graduates were invited to dinner in Club 1838. Each class were seated at their own table. After dinner the graduates poured into the Nu Bar on campus, which was open until 12.30am, for some 80’s and 90’s music.

The Alumni Office would like to thank all the Schools’ who supported this year’s reunion.
