CIRD events with Prof Ingrid Mattson: The Qur’an and Ethics and Islam and Gender

The Centre for Interreligious Dialogue (CIRD) and the School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music hosted two events with Professor Ingrid Mattson:

Public Lecture: The Qur’an and Ethics
  • Date, Time and Location: Tuesday 3rd May 2016
Seminar: Islam and Gender
  • Date, Time and Location: Wednesday 4th May 2016

Dr. Ingrid Mattson (Huron University College at the University of Western Ontario, Canada)  served as vice-president, then as president of the Islamic Society of North America (USA), the first woman to serve in either position. Her writings, both academic and public, focus primarily on Qur’an interpretation, Islamic theological ethics, and interfaith relations. Her book, The Story of the Qur’an, is an academic best-seller and was chosen by the US National Endowment for the Humanities for inclusion in its “Bridging Cultures” programme.

Both events were well attended and very well received.
