National Procurement Service (NPS) endorses DCU's MBS in Strategic Procurement

The National Procurement Service (NPS) in the Office of Public Works, and the National Public Procurement Policy Unit (NPPPU) in the Department of Finance, are endorsing DCU Business School's Graduate Diploma/MBS in Strategic Procurement programme.

Both bodies endorse the programme as an important component in developing strategic procurement education for both public and private sector bodies.

The programme, which is run by DCU Business School's Centre for Executive Programmes, operates on a modular basis over two years, with delivery based on a block release on Thursday, Friday and Saturday once a month during the academic year.

The NPS/NPPPU encourages both public and private sector organisations to propose and support candidates involved in procurement in their organisations for inclusion in the programme.

The NPS/NPPPU also encourages individuals who are interested in developing their procurement skills and capabilities to enrol in the programme.

The programme, which is the first of its kind in Ireland and one of only two such programmes in Europe, has been running successfully since 2006.

Feedback from students and graduates from both the public and private sectors has been very positive:

"As a graduate of this programme I would strongly recommend it. It is an excellent course and is highly relevant to our profession. It has the potential to open up entirely new perspectives and understanding of strategic procurement, its related disciplines and the business environment in which it operates. I consider this programme to be a key component in the continuing development of the procurement profession in Ireland."
Seán O'Dwyer, Business Systems Manager- Group Purchasing at Dublin Airport Authority

"I completed the MBS in 2008, the class itself was a mix of Private & Public Sector Procurement Professionals. It has certainly helped me in my own organisation to raise the profile of Procurement. The course itself is strategically orientated and I would have no hesitation in recommending it for anybody involved in Purchasing or Supply Chain."
Paul Behan, Purchasing Manager at Irish Blood Transfusion Service Ireland

"To any one thinking or interested in pursuing this course I cannot recommend it highly enough. I am in the final year & have learnt an enormous amount from the various business subjects. Highly recommended as a natural progression from IIPMM or any related purchasing or supply chain course."
Joe Goode, Senior Manager of Global Logistics at QLogic Corporation

The next intake of students to the programme will be in October 2010. Interested applicants should contact Ruth Finnegan at email: ruth.finnegan@dcu.ie or telephone: +353 1 7008106.
