DCU Seminar on Financial Journalism and Business Communication

DCU will host a seminar on “Critical Perspectives on Financial Journalism and Business Communication” from 9.30am to 1.00pm on Thursday, 29th October 2009.

The seminar will hear the results of research undertaken by Mark O’Brien and Declan Fahy (both of School of Communications, Dublin City University) and Valerio Potì of DCU Business School, on the development, performance and professional tensions associated with financial journalism and business communication in Ireland and internationally.

The seminar will also hear the perspectives of practitioners and confirmed speakers thus far include Emmet Oliver, Business Editor of the Sunday Tribune; Liam Boggan, Head of International Equities at Merrion Stockbrokers; and Brian Lucey, Associate Professor in Finance, Trinity College, Dublin.

The seminar will conclude with an open roundtable discussion on topics raised in the seminar as well as issues surrounding the education and training of financial journalists and business communicators.
