A paper authored by DCU Business School faculty Brian Harney, Kathy Monks, Angelos Alexopoulos, Teresea Hogan and Finian Buckley entitled ‘Experiencing the divide: University researchers and employment opportunity’ was recently awarded Best Overall Paper at the Irish Social Science Platform Annual Conference held at NUI, Galway 1-2 December 2009.

Drawing from a PRTLI funded project examining the management of scientific and technical capital in university research centres, the paper explores the career trajectories and experiences of research scientists. In so doing it made a clear contribution to the conference theme; “Social Science Research and Policy Making: Bridging the Divide”.

DCUBS Ph.D. candidates Jason Flynn and John Brogan also made presentations at the conference, while Teresa Hogan was track chair for the knowledge and society stream.
