Gold for DCU European Business Student in USA

10th March 2009

A final year student of DCU’s BA in European Business (Transatlantic Studies) degree
has taken gold in this year’s Stockholm Case Competition.

Clare Ryan, who is studying currently at Boston’s Northeastern University (NEU), was
a member of the winning NEU team at the worldwide case competition. Other
competitors included NYU Stern, the London School of Economics, and Hong Kong
University of Science and Technology.

Earlier this year Clare was chosen to represent NEU in a case competition between
all of the Boston colleges (including Boston College and Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT)) known as the Beanpot Case Analysis competition. It was a great
achievement for Clare to be chosen, as it is the first time an overseas student has
been part of the NEU team. That team has now been awarded the gold medal in the
Stockholm Case competition.

Northeastern University is a partner institution of DCU Business School. A key element
of the partnership is the opportunity for students of DCU’s BA in European Business
(Transatlantic Studies) degree to spend their third and fourth years studying at the
Boston-based university. The dual degree status of the programme means that graduates
are awarded degrees from both universities.
