Don Bergin, Director of Public Affairs Ireland, gave a talk in the Alexander Hotel in Dublin, on the 25^th October 2007 entitled ‘The changing face of public procurement in Ireland: challenges posed by new requirements

This talk, which highlighted the value of procurement both in ‘driving the value for money agenda, and in deriving best value from public expenditure’, gave specific mention and credence to the MSc in Strategic Procurement currently being offered by DCU. He mentions the importance of training and education ‘to up-skill and develop people across the range of capabilities necessary to sustain measurable improvements in procurement performance’.

Training and education is one of the 5 NPPPU initiatives toward ‘achieving better value for money in a regime of probity and accountability’.
