Edgeworth Centre for Financial Mathematics
The recent success of researchers from the School of Mathematical Sciences and the Business School in obtaining funding from the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) will allow DCU to establish the Edgeworth Centre for Financial Mathematics. The centre brings together researchers in mathematics and financial economics in Dublin City University, University College Cork, and University of Limerick, with practitioners from financial institutions. Two interdisciplinary and inter-institutional teams will investigate the modelling of financial markets and the pricing and hedging of financial instruments, using a broad spectrum of methods in stochastic analysis, econometrics, and computational finance. The centre will attract high calibre international research visitors, PhD students, and research fellows. The Business School is directly involved in the centre; Professor Liam Gallagher is the leader of one of the five projects under study. He is working with Dr. Hiroyuki Kawakatsu on Non-Normal Asset Price Behaviour. Professor Gallagher is also a member of the management board of the centre.
