Student Entrepreneur Awards

Last day for submissions to the Student Entrepreneur Awards

Today (Friday March 8th) is the last day for entries for the the Student Entrepreneur Awards. The awards, run by Enterprise Ireland, are the largest national student entrepreneurship competition in Ireland.

Students and student teams from across the country will submit a three minute pitch video relating to their start-up venture. From these submissions, fifty entrants will be chosen to submit a business plan and ten will be selected for the finals in June.

Anna Kinnerk, Enterprise Ireland said “The Awards, now in their 38th year, are open to all full time third-level students in the Island of Ireland.  With a total cash prize fund of €35,000 and expert mentoring, guidance and consultancy worth €30,000 from the blue-chip sponsors, the Awards provide a great platform for ambitious and enterprising third level students to build a viable and commercial business venture.”

A workshop evening to help students prepare their submissions for the awards was held in DCU Business School on March 5th. Organised by Dr. Roisin Lyons (DCU Business School) and the DCU Startup Society and was supported by both staff and the Student Union. Over thirty students from Business, Engineering, Computing, Humanities and Fiontar took part.

Mentors from industry and within the university worked with students refining their idea and entrepreneurial societies including Speakeasy and Enactus DCU helped students with their pitches and honing their submission videos.
