Academic biography

Julie Bertz trained as a chartered accountant following her B.Sc. (Hons) in Accounting from UCC. She has worked in industry in both multinational and public sector organisations in Ireland and the US. Prior to joining DCU she also completed a M.Bus. in Research. She has a number of years teaching experience and has taught on professional accountancy courses and lectured/tutored degree and master students in Financial and Management Accounting. She completed her PhD at the University of Exeter, England, under the supervision of Prof John Burns. She has published in a variety of peer reviewed journals. Her current research interests are in public service reform, organisational and management control change and student motivation. She is currently Director of DCU’s MSc in Accounting Programme.
