Academic biography

Pawan Kumar is an Assistant Professor of Finance at Dublin City University, Dublin, Ireland. Pawan has earned a Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science & Engineering) from the National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj, India. He completed his Master of Business Administration (Finance) from McMaster University, Canada, and his Ph.D. in Finance from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM – Mumbai). He has previously worked as an application developer in IBM and BlueStacks and done financial advisory for  Freedom Financials, Ontario, Canada; Leap Tools, Toronto, Canada; and the City of Brantford Municipal Corporation, Brantford, Canada. In addition, he recently provided consulting for a mega project in India, “Swamitva,” sponsored by IIM Mumbai. He has also provided consulting to the Indian Council of Social Science Research and the Indian Institute of Banking of Finance. He serves as a module instructor for an e-learning platform in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industries for higher-level Finance Professionals in India. He has previously served as an assistant professor of Finance for FLAME University, Pune, India.

Prof. Kumar has several papers published in ABS 3 journals, such as Energy Economics, and Journal of Commodity Markets, to name a few, and serves as a reviewer for many top-tier journals of Finance. Prof. Kumar’s main research areas include Financial Time Series, Portfolio Management, Systemic Risk, and Stochastic Optimization.
